About Us

With a successful business well underway, we had a desire to update the restaurant while remaining true to our core values – family, fresh food, inviting atmosphere, and respect for his community. We closed the restaurant in August of 2022 and began a renovation project and rebranding using family and local talent to transform the restaurant. The biggest change was to redesign the restaurant as Annie Ruth’s Wine Bar and Bistro.

 

I felt this new name honored my mother (Annie Ruth), who was a driving force behind the dream becoming a reality, while focusing on the overall theme. Once settled on a name, we focused on creating the new environment. We brought in new tables and chairs and added a custom wooden bar, premium sound system, and a flat screen TV. We added a custom boozy soft serve machine delivering chilled adult beverages. We also added new, modern kitchen equipment to make more efficient use of the space. With a six-month renovation completed, the restaurant had its Grand Opening in February 2023.

 

Guided by our desire to give back to that same community, we have added weekly events such as Karaoke, Trivia Night, Cookie Decorating events, and Paint-N-Sip functions. The restaurant now includes daily Happy Hour from 2pm – 7pm and Wine Wednesdays where we feature half priced wine bottles. New to our lineup is a Thursday ‘Bourbon and Burgers’ (3pm-9pm) event that has already proven to be a crowd pleaser with $10 gourmet burgers and $7 on select bourbons. We have hosted the Chesterfield Spades Tournament and hosted several watch parties for JMU-sanctioned football and basketball playoff games (GO DUKES). We also sponsor annual events to include a Mother’s Day Brunch, Valentine’s Day Dinner, and Brunch with Santa, to name a few.

 

During a baseball-themed birthday celebration in August of ’23 amongst family and friends at the restaurant, I proposed to Kyia! She said YES!  Later in 2024, we married at an unforgettable event in Richmond where the ceremony was catered by the wonderful staff at Annie Ruth’s.

 

Through all of these additions and upgrades, I have never forgotten the value of my community and listening to our customers.  We continue to capture the local flare and history of Richmond while using fresh ingredients, many taken directly from my Mother's kitchen, prepared and served by local chefs, friendly waitstaff, and trained bartenders.
